My, but did I get some cool clothes in Thailand! So instead of unpacking and getting back to work, I'm showing off my made-to-measure sailor shorts. I'm so pleased with them - you have no idea how hard it is to get shorts to fit both my waist and hips!
The talented tailors in BKK can make up clothes from a picture, so I went armed with vintage photos and pattern illustrations. I had a lot of fun designing my own clothes - I went to Pahurat, Bangkok's garment district, and bought reams of fabric. Some I had made into clothes there, but most I brought home with me as I'm feeling all inspired to sew - as well as having garments made up, I also got them to draft some patterns from vintage designs.
But in the meantime, back to the sailor shorts! I was inspired by Wearing History's 1940s Sailor Girl Playsuit. I'm thinking about changing the buttons from black to white, as they don't show up very well against the navy.
