This outfit was constructed entirely around the hat. Tell me I'm not the only one!
If you wondered what I've been doing over the last few days that I haven't been blogging, I've been working on a collection of 1940s style tilt hats or fascinators made from old 45s. I'm super pleased with how they came out! I'll post instructions for how to make them tomorrow (including how to make the ribbon bow, which is actually only attached temporarily while I wait for some vintage millinery roses to arrive). I'll also be listing a few designs in my etsy store next week.
The hats can be worn 1940s tilt style in the centre or to one side. I like it best in the centre. I made small victory rolls either side as a foundation, then pulled the rest of my hair into a bun (I need a haircut! It's so thick that it gets unmanageable at this length).
Hat, handmade by me (instructions coming soon!); Polka dot blouse, Charity shop; Skirt, hand-me-down from my sister; Ace of Spades earrings, purchased in Thailand.
