Did you enjoy colour theory week? I did! I hope it left you feeling as inspired as it did me. Having spent the week writing about colour, I challenged myself to create an outfit incorporating three or more colours (most of my outfits have a two-colour scheme) based on the principles of colour theory.
I started with this red dress, and added accessories in shades of green (red's complement) from lime (yellow-green) to teal (blue-green). Red and green is a difficult combination to wear without looking like Christmas, but by playing with different varieties of these colours you can wear them any time of the year.
These fun socks added the perfect finishing touch to the outfit - cherries and polka dots - what could be better?
1950s corduroy dress, car boot sale; Belt, purchased in Thailand; Feather bird fascinator, Now, Voyager; Gloves, Sandra's Vintage in Chichester; Wicker handbag, purchased in Thailand; Socks, purchased in Japan; Shoes, Marks & Spencer; Apple earrings, purchased in Thailand.
What do you think - does it work? To be honest I'm not sure whether the teal bag carries it off completely - if it weren't for the fact I was challenging myself to incorporate more than two colours I'd probably have gone for a black bag. Still, it's good to dress outside one's comfort zone every so often, right?
And on that note, I'd like to extend the colour theory challenge to you, readers - send a photo, leave a link or just comment below describing your colour theory outfit.
