I loved these pictures of shoes matching clothing or other accessories from LIFE magazine, 1946. Some of the looks are easier to emulate than others (must get me a pair of leopard print shoes!).

Funnily enough, this reminds me of my favourite outfit when I was 15-16. I had a mini kilt skirt in Black Watch (blue, green and black) tartan, which I wore with matching Doc Marten boots. Oh yes.
lovely post. the shoes are just gorgeous. i find it really hard to get great vintage look shoes, you have inspire me to hunt a little harder! x
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post and lovely outfits as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat post & fantastic images! The leopard print one is so snazzy!
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to have matching shoes. As well as matching handbags, and matching jewellery XD
ReplyDeleteOh tartan DMs! I remember them (I only had plain ones, but I did have a little indie kilt!).
ReplyDeleteI love these - the booties and matching skirts especially. I remember a book once which slated the mid-century fashion for ankle boots with skirts, calling them a blot on an otherwise stylish era (!!) - but I think they are practical and cute. Which are two pretty positive traits when it comes to shoes!
wow. the crosses are unreal. I have had some vintage purses that match with shoes, but not with dresses.
