Forties Sweetheart

I'm experimenting with a new, Betty Grable inspired hairstyle. I used a cheapo bun donut thing (snipped and opened out into a sausage) and rolled the very front of my hair around it for the pompadour, then basically pincurled the side-front sections, pinned the sides behind my ears and tied the scarf over the top.

I'm in love with a sky blue and red colour scheme at the moment, and I've been wearing variations on this outfit a lot lately. I added chocolate brown as an accent colour in the dirndl cincher belt and shoes (which you can't see because none of the full length shots came out very well, but they're the same brown sandals I wear a lot).

1950s wool pencil skirt, etsy; Sweater, charity shop; 1940s celluloid necklace, Squirrel Antiques, Chichester; Gloves, can't remember; Carved earrings, either a car boot sale or the attic; Scarf, gift from my sister; Belt, purchased in Thailand.

  3. The whole outfit looks amazing, I agree with Agnieszka-your waist is tiny...lucky girl. Some very clever hair engineering too.

  6. Very pretty. I do envy you having enough leg to carry off a pencil skirt, I've always felt I'm too short to get away with it and I do like them!

  8. I love the colour combo light blue and red too. Red and white is a common colour combo that always appears really fresh and clean but red and light blue is more interesting and special and it suits you very well. Hugs from Miss Maple
