1940s Darling

This is actually an old outfit post that's been sitting in draft for the last month!

This outfit was inspired by Betty Grable in "Pin Up Girl". The pompadour front is achieved by rolling the very front of my hair around a bun donut (opened out into a sausage). I then victory-rolled the side-front sections, pinned the sides behind my ears, and added the hat. I've had the hat ages but never worn it because I've never been able to figure out the hairstyle to go with it - it was Betty Grable's red outfit in Pin Up Girl that gave me my lightbulb moment, and inspired this look.

1950s pencil skirt, etsy; Jacket, vintage shop in Totnes; Necklace, found in the attic; 1940s-50s plastic brooch, ebay; Shoes, purchased in Thailand; Gloves, can't remember (I can never remember where most of my gloves came from); 1950s cherry hat, ebay.

  3. The pairing of sharp red and serene grey together like that is so incredibly lovely. You look like a million dollars - not to mention as elegant as can be - here, dear gal.
