{Style Inspiration} 1940s Summer Dresses

For this week's Sunday style inspiration I give you a selection of colourful summer dresses from the 1940s. These are all from "Everywoman" magazine.

Interesting use of stripes, from 1942

Loving these sweet styles and adorable prints from 1945

  2. Love the rainbow of cheerful hues at work here! Colour is so important to me in my wardrobe, and I've long adorned how many vintage pieces were punchy and filled with vibrant colour, as many these classic dresses exemplify. Oodles of thanks for sharing these pages - I'll be daydreaming about four frocks in the last image all week now. :)

  3. I love these. I'm reading 'These Wonderful Rumours: A Young Schoolteacher's Wartime Diaries 1939-1945' at the moment and boy, did she have a lot of dresses made! I love the descriptions of them and trying to picture them in my mind. And her hats and all the rest, she obviously loved her clothes.
